Those of you in Northern Illinois interested in a highly affordable local, technology integration professional development opportunity will want to check out the 17th annual NICE (Northern Illinois Computing Educators) mini-conference on Saturday, January 29, 2011 from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm at the Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, IL. This mini-conference is open to everyone (ICE membership is NOT required to attend) and registration is only $5.00 @ the door. More from NICE President, Charlene Chausis:

Greetings NICE members,
Saturday, Jan. 29 marks the 17th year for the NICE Mini-Conference and you are invited to attend!

Little did I realize when I attended my first NICE Mini-conference at Old Orchard Junior High school in the late '90s that I would be coordinating this event at Stevenson High School in the 21st Century! I hope you will be able to spend a few hours with us on a chilly Saturday morning. For a mere $5, you will have an apportunity to meet, collaborate and learn from and with local educators who are integrating technology in education -- this is absolutely the "best deal in town!"

This year, you will be able to attend four sessions as your earn your CPDUs. Whether you are a newbie to technology, or you've been around for a while, there is always something to explore and investigate. Our conference chairpersons, Helen Lazarro and Sharon Sossin have assembled a great line-up of presentations and give-aways -- I guarantee you will return your classrooms "on Monday" inspired and recharged, and maybe with a raffle prize too!

Please take a moment to look over the presentations, and pre-register your sessions online at
http://tinyurl.com/nice-mini2011, as soon as possible, but before Jan. 25 -- this will help us to schedule rooms based on the interests of our attendees.

NICE would like to thank our 2010 Mini-Grant winners, and presenters who will be sharing their projects and ideas during the poster and break-out sessions, as well as our generous sponsors which include ICE, Discovery Education, Marriott, Westin Hotels, Coopers Hawk, Wildfire, Dengeos, Claim Company, and Adlai E. Stevenson High School.

We look forward to seeing you at Stevenson on Jan. 29!

Charlene Chausis
NICE President
