The Network Engineer is responsible for analyzing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing of wired and wireless network infrastructure and application components.  The Network Engineer performs a wide variety of evaluation, maintenance, installation and training tasks to ensure the computer network performance meets District and user satisfaction.  The Network Engineer also provides direction, information, and recommendations regarding network configurations and installations.

He/she serves as a member of the Network Operations Team and performs a variety of technical support and analytical services for District divisions and departments.

Minimum Qualifications


  1. Bachelor’s degree (computer science or related field)
  2. Current CCNA or higher certification
  3. Maintain network security through proper configuration of VPN and Firewalls
  4. Technical, analytical and interpersonal skills required


Critical Job Functions


  • Design, setup and configure complex switching environments
  • Design, setup and configure complex wireless networking that supports open or secured access and the ability to support voice and video applications
  • Troubleshooting malfunctions of network hardware and software applications, telephones and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services.
  • Work closely with District personnel to identify needs, recommend, implement and maintain various information systems
  • Monitor systems performance and execute corrective measures
  • Assist other technical staff in resolving troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Project management
