Job Description

 

Title:                Systems Technology Director

 

Job Description:  The Systems Technology Director supports the District Technology Department by providing the highest level of systems and software support to the district.  This position is responsible for developing and performing support, documentation, and coordinating training to personnel related to district software systems.  This position is responsible for the integration and upgrading of district software systems.  The Software Technology Specialist and the Support Specialist personnel report to the Systems Technology Director.

 

Reports To:     Assistant Superintendent for Business Services

 

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Information Systems required
  2. At least 5 years’ experience with school technology, systems support, and database management
  3. Extensive project management required
  4. At least 5 years’ experience managing others and ability to relate with people in a positive manner and work as part of a team
  5. Advanced knowledge of databases and reporting tools such as Crystal Reports
  6. Preference given to experience with the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Student Information System (SIS)
  7. Preference given to experience with conversion and use of Skyward Finance and Student Management
  8. Experience with systems data integration required
  9. Experience in local area network management required
  10. Skilled in hardware and software installation, maintenance and troubleshooting
  11. Excellent problem solving skills and desire for life-long learning

 

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Co-manages the District Technology Department in conjunction with the Network Technology Director.
  2. Oversees the upgrade, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Business Information System, Student Information System, ID Systems, and Food Service System.
  3. Verifies integrity of data and provides communication, documentation, support, and coordinates training to staff for local Student Information System, Business Information System, ID Systems, and Food Service System.
  4. Administers the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Student Information System (SIS) and is responsible for the configuration and transmission of required information to the state.
  5. Reconciles standardized testing student demographic data.
  6. Configures and manages data interfaces to other district software packages to allow for efficient data flow.
  7. Coordinates with Instructional Programs and Media Specialists on technical and data issues with instructional software.
  8. Provides technical, data, and software support to Student Transportation Company.
  9. Coordinates with Career Center and Regional Office of Education Programs with student course assignments and grades.
  10. Aggregates student data for custom data reporting requirements and state reporting requirements including General State Aid Reimbursement, School Report Card reporting, and ISBE End of Year reporting.
  11. Develops and oversees the department budget.
  12. Drafts policies for Board approval relating to the operation of district-wide technology and software systems.
  13. Assists in the selection, training, and supervision of all technical support personnel.
  14. Provides technical direction and training for the Software Technology Specialist and the Support Specialist personnel and assists in the performance of their duties.
  15. Establishes and supervises a district support help-line including but not limited to technical training for users, troubleshooting, and systems maintenance.
  16. Insures the continuous flow of technology services through the efficient and effective scheduling of staff resources.
  17. Keeps current with developments in technology and recommends priority-based improvements in procedures and software.
  18. Develops short and long term plans for computer software installation and upgrades.
  19. Provides input for the district technology improvement plan.
  20. Works with the administration and staff to develop district-wide technology policies.
  21. Provides cross-training to Network Technology Director.
  22. Enforces technology standards and ensures compliance to license agreements.
  23. Provides for data back-up capabilities and security of information.
  24. Responsible for configuration of telephone system including voicemail.
  25. Responsible for maintenance of employee and student network account logins and e-mail.
