Goals of the IL CTO organization: 

Leadership Development: Engage in programs and activities that improve the capabilities of school CTOs/CIOs to ensure that instructional technology and operational technology have a direct and positive impact on the missions of educational agencies, by:

  • Providing professional development and growth opportunities
  • Fostering leadership skills based on research & best practices to increase their effectiveness in their organizations
  • Providing a forum to discuss common issues
  • Fostering new leadership in the field of educational technology.
Emerging Trends: Monitor emerging technology and business trends and provide a framework to help school CTOs/CIOs make decisions about technology implementations, by:
  • Exchanging information and learning from other Illinois CTOs/CIOs
  • Inviting experts in the field to address specific topics
  • Influencing vendors on new product development to better meet the needs of the education community
  • Prototyping and testing new technologies in support of council activities.
Collaboration and Advocacy: Form collaborative relationships with other organizations to work on common goals, by:
  • Establishing effective relationships among CTO/CIO council members and other organizational groups
  • Working collectively as an organization to positively influence policy and policy makers
  • Supporting the statewide organizations that address the common technology issues which face educational agencies in Illinois.
